jon milliken New Member United States 22 Posts	Posted 06/17/2019 10:19 pm Hello guys! I'm new to this forum although I frequently come here to read stuff about coins. I recently discovered a 2005 proof set and the quarters look bronze I will upload pictures next to a 2004 proof set for comparison not sure what's happened to these coins. It looks as tho they are missing the silver layer. Your thoughts will be appreciated. Pictures were hard to do as the lighting screws things up. But I think you should be able to see the difference between the 2004 and 2005 color. 2005 have more of a bronze look thanks for looking and giving your input. -Jon Report this Post to the Staff

John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 06/18/2019 04:31 am to CCF. Nickel,the metal not the denomination sometimes tones a nice golden honey color. Well I guess nickels do as well . My guess is that is what you are seeing. I am not really seeing that in your pics,but I know it is not easy to capture toning in a photo. John1 Report this Post to the Staff

Is It's odd that all of the coins in the case have toned evenly they all look exactly the same tone. I always thought the proofs were sealed inside their case and this was not supposed to happen.
