Does the wear on his face hurt it that bad? I thought it was more about the details?

I thought this one was for sure in the MS category?

I don't know this for certain, but I think it's about the lines through the hair on the obverse and the wings, tail and branch (or log or whatever) on the reverse.
Again, I'm not %100, but that's my guess.
Btw, I think it's a really cool looking coin. I'd personally save it in a collection and let it gain value over time.

If you pay $40? To send it to PCGS and grades MS63 it would retail for $1.
It is a circulated quarter. It's worth .25c

Unable to grade from these pics - obverse surface detail unclear.

Bathe it in Acetone and if you get back mint luster...maybe worth a couple bucks...save it for your grandkids..
Edited: circulated coin? ..look at the reeds, just because it was found in a bank roll doesn't automatically make it a circulated coin
