Is My Coin Chrome Plated? How Can You Tell?

coolflame New Member Canada 4 Posts	Posted 06/23/2019 3:05 pm Hi I am new on this site. I came here because it seems to be very helpful to others. I have a friend who doesn't collect coins but he found a 1951 nickel and gave it to me. I want to know if it is chrome plated or not. For all I know it may just be some type of polish giving its color. Ill try to put it next to another nickel for you to compare. Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

TerryT Pillar of the Community Canada 799 Posts	Posted 06/26/2019 12:39 am All 1944-45-51 beaver-52-53-54 "nickels" were SUPPOSED to be chrome plated. Some were missed. The chrome plated ones have a bluish tint when compared to the normal nickel nickels. Report this Post to the Staff
