I just picked up a Canon SD790 1S for home, video and hopefully improved coin pictures. 10 mega pixels so it has to be an improvement over my last antique. These shots were taken in macro mode, transferred to HP Image Viewer, cropped and resized to ~450 x 450 for viewing on the forum. With my other camera normal web viewing was ~600 x 600 and the forum couldn't accept the size. I really don't know what I'm doing but it is a starting point. First attempts not successful, had to custom resize to 400 x 396 on the first and 380 x 373 on the second pic.

You can do better yet! The max forum image size is 100k, your pics are around 88k. Your cropping them down too small. I can generally post pics at about 800x600 resolution....that' should be your target.

I suggest you drop your camera resolution back. You don't need 10MP to take a good coin pic, expecially since you'll be reducing the file for web posting anyway. All megapixels to is make your pic bigger, they do NOT improve the photo quality. Try dropping down to 1024x768, fill the frame with the coin and then resize using software by reduction down to 800x600.
