The pics don't show any luster. This would make a difference. The details are definitely uncirculated but I can't give an opinion on the numerical grade without knowing more about the luster.

Ok,I'll tell you this. The coin isn't in Mint State.I'll tell you why.Keep In mind that eye appeal is a large part of it.The substance on the back is black toning and that is rather unsightly IMO and thus would keep the coin from being graded higher than it otherwise might be.So thru all that it wouldn't be in Mint State, but it would be in AUs.So I'd grade it around AU-53. Why would toning keep a coin out of mint state? That makes absolutely no sense...

I have seen many coins in MS slabbed by the big 4 that have natural toning. They would obviously disagree with you.

I cant tell from the image if the coin is unc or not. It appears to have unc details. The toning wouldn't be used to determine if the coin was MS or not, but it would make a difference in the final numerical MS grade. If this coin has the normal ammount of luster associated with the date, I would give it MS61 or 62.

I'm just saying that BLACK toning would not look good IMO.So that would include eye appeal and eye appeal is a large part of it. B12

I have seen many coins with uncirculated details which would be considered Mint State that didn't look as good as some AU slider coins. This is something that I know Ziggy29 would agree with.

Toning and wear are two different things. Toning can absolutely affect eye-appeal, but will not affect whether the coin is uncirculated. Now, if the toning is caused by a fingerprint or cleaning, that's a different story!
