I decided to auction off some of my slabbed coins without going via ebay. I used to get lots of solicitation in the spring when metal prices were so high to consign to Heritage, Stacks, Teletrade, Bowers and Merena. I emailed Heritage and Stacks and have not heard anything. I will call them eventually-- but I'm wondering are there better times to consign than others? Is this possibly not one of them?
Teletrade is offering a discount on fees-- a recent gander at their auctions seems to suggest less than usual of the good offerings noted last winter and spring...

I suspect the solicitations were scheduled around shows and major auctions. It had nothing to do with metals prices. Stuff affected by metals price is usually better sold to a dealer.

Those big names are generally interested in $500+ items.

Don't know if there are any coin shows around you but if you go to one you may find a dealer that is willing to sell them for you for a price. Some dealers with a small amount of inventory will do that. Of course you may not like the final prices you get that way. Selling any coins for the average person is not so easy and that is why so many use ebay. On ebay or othes like that you will get the most for anything providing you can sell it.

Heritage emailed me today offering no consignment fees in October, but I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing.
