OK let's start from this. I have 5 albums with 100~200 (hard to say how many there are) coins that are non-US. Like Germany, France, Poland, Austria, Hungary etc. Mostly pre-war, some silver, generally no rarities but at the same time non-junk. They've been there gathering dust in the cabinet for 8 years or more. I am also afraid of PVC damage if they are stored them longer, since the albums are old and then (here) nobody was saying anything about PVC. Now they don't recommend them for any better coins. So something has to be done with them - start a world type set? Does something like "world type set" even exist? Thanks for any suggestions, DL20K.

That sounds like a great idea, I would find it very interesting to look at. How would you go about organizing it? One coin from every country, or many coins from every country, or?

Well since I looked through all of them, there are not many countries to start a "one coin from every country" set. But there are many types from several countries (mentioned above plus a few British + 1 Australian). So now I thought up a plan .. .. to pick the best of each type and make type sets of those countries I've already got. Sell the doubles or exchange them for missing types.
They are sort of wasting sitting there in those old albums..

Very interesting I hadn't thought about that aspect of my own dark side album. It consists of 24 pages of world coins, with 90+ countries represented. Type sets would be an additional feature but I wouldn't know where to begin. I have some type sets although few complete ones, Canada, Mexico, I know I have at least one, and Poland, of course thanks to you DL20K. Others like the U.K. and Russia I have good sets but not complete I'm sure. France, Belgium, Austria, and Hungary would also be good candidates, but I don't think there are any type sets in those. Guess I'll sit back and see if any show up!

COINAHOLIC, that's the difference you've got 90+ countries and I seem to have 9+ Speaking of Poland, you're working on a date set Complete Mexico? From 1820s onwards? eaglefoot, first I'd have to look how many different (and worthy) types there are, then get a hundred 2x2s for them..

NO no Heavens no I mean like one of each type of issue for more recent years, a complete type set like the equivalent to a 7070 set would be nice though!

OK guys, a sample from the loose pages. Pics will come later. What do you think? Latvia 2 lati 1926 (also a scratched 1925) Slovakia 10 KS 1944 Slovakia 20 KS 1941 Britain Florin 1901 Britain 4 pence 1838 Germany 1727 "HAMBURGER" (guess it's from Hamburg) Switzerland 1/2 Fr. 1909 Latvia 1 lats 1924 Britain Farthing 1900 Thailand 1 baht (1962) They were never really sorted (apart from pulling the worst out, if that counts) so there's a real mess here.

I have maybe 20 foreign countries or so...... But, mine are mostly low grade cheapies !!.....nuthin' to brag about at all......I'm much more impressed with yours !.... I have an old German silver from late 1800's and a Centavos or two and I think a older British coin and those are all very good coins.... ........but all the rest are definately just low grade cheapies....

Kind of dis-organized? Maybe I am missing the point to this page? I would guess on my sets, to clarify, not type sets by definition, so I will classify them as denominational sets. Would that seem more correct?

When you take a look at these .. it's obvious that when you buy coins when you're a novice "collector" you buy anything and everything, put it away, buy more, more different stuff.. and such things can be found here. Time to sort it out once and for all! The German unknowns I've posted before were from the first page of the 2nd album. However, most of these are medium grade small coins (like German 1~10 pfennig). There is over 20 ten pfennig coins from the early 1900s. Of course plenty of doubles. eaglefoot, don't you want some? And the pics. You can find anything from lovely MS aluminum 2zl of the 1958-74 series.. ..to this. Silver, not cleaned, with luster! (ok this photo doesn't show its beauty) Packed them in spare 2x2s already!

Of course I do !..... But, sadly, I have to "control" my spending right now..... And I have, at least, a 3 part deal with Prethen that I have to take care of first. That will take place over weeks and/or a month or two !! But........I sure do like looking at pictures of "yours" !!...
