Ok...this really threw me. Definitelly one of the coolest LMC's ive personally come across. As the title indicates, when I first saw it I'm thinking possible class3 small over large, but upon viewing the rest I couldnt find anything that looked close. The field by liberty looks like its under water in a shallow tidal flat. Liberty is practically gone. Whats strange is the devices on the rest of the obverse arent flowing off the rim.

Then I flipped the coin to the reverse and see the lower right side of the monument at 6oclock dead center below the stairs. Pretty cool stuff

Very curious to hear the groups opinions on this.

Acid dipped coin. Post Strike Damage ( PSD), not an error coin.

thats dissapointing, but now I know what to look for and totally makes sense. No small over large potential either? What about the monument corner under the steps? I guess even if it was the value would been destroyed by the acid job. Dang. Back to the salt mine...

This is a coin that was heated with a torch. Note the metal distortion. The weight will be the same as a normal copper cent. 3.11 grams.

An acid dipped coin will be thinner and have a loss of weight. But it is PSD. It wasn't struck looking like that. It was altered.

Basically they are trying to alter a normal coin, to sell it to the unsure collectors.

This was found, roll wrapped, and came in a 25 $ box. Ive come across a few more suspect coins since 1st posting. Maybe I didnt get a dub but gained valuable knowledge. It sounds like others have as well. Thanks Coop and E&V
