Since it is expensive for individuals to submit a coin for grading and cheaper for businesses or major collectors who submit them in bulk; why doesn't CCF offer a deal for coin submission once a month for it's members who support CCF financially? CCF could get the bulk discount and pass it along to its members who support the community. In return, saving the CCF members a lot of money. Since I'm not a PCGS member & don't want to join, my only option is to get a coin shop to send a coin in for me. It would be nice to have that as a perk for being a financially supportive CCF member. What do you guys think?

That's an interesting proposal. What are the requirements to be a group submitter?

Has the potential to cause administrative headaches for the the CCF, if problems arise with the postal or parcel services. Better if you continue to submit through your local friendly LCS, if they are amenable.
Better still, if you are able to grade reliably for yourself. Easy to learn, by joining in on the grading threads here in the CCF, and you can appreciate the opinions of others.
KK: submit a message to the CCF admin, see what they say; they may like the idea, they may not.

It might be worth an occasional headache due to increased funding that could potentially be a lot of money.

The last thing I would ask the CCF is for more support for the collecting community. I'll bet this (outstanding) resource runs at a loss as it is.

KK-just as long as you are a member of CCF who supports this forum financially. Go to your profile and you can see the different options for donating. But that's what I'm partially getting at...there are no perks for financially supporting this forum. Just that perk alone would be plenty reason for me to financially support.

I can see how that might be an admin nightmare keeping track of submissions etc. but some like myself don't have access to an LCS that will submit for us. I've called 4 or 5 in my area none of which were willing to do that.

I think all the extra revenue would make it worth while for the admins

Interesting idea. Didn't know you had to be a meme we of PCGS to get your coins graded :lame:
Cheers

You don't have to be a member of PCGS but I'm pretty sure it costs more money if you aren't. So pay PCGS membership, pay extra for non-member coin submission or pay a local coin shop (if you can find one)...every option is expensive. A group CCF deal would be awesome & way more affordable for everyone.

Just join the ANA and you have submissions privileges with NGC. Best 47 bucks you will spend being an ANA member . The Numismatist magazine alone is worth the entire amount all by itself. Also ANACS is fairly reasonable and lately very conservative . They offer specials from time to time. They are best for VAMs. The idea presented above is really not workable.

Ok, I will look into that. Thank you all for your opinions as always!

So how much does it cost to submit a coin to NGC if you are a member ANA?

From what I can tell, it costs $17 just to submit a coin for grading, plus $10 handling fee for all coins, $5 extra for hard case, $15 extra for mint errors and $15 extra for varieties. Am I calculating this correctly? It could cost $100 to grade a coin?

The handling fee is per invoice not per coin! Normal bread and butter stuff works out to about 22 per coin with NGC all in , more for expensive coins . Go to the NGC web site , pretty self explanatory ! ANACS GENERALLY around 15 per coin .

Get the platinum level with the 8 grading vouchers. Those vouchers when used properly are worth $40 each as regular secure plus, you get a nike dry fit shirt too that you can sell for about $20 bucks as well if you don't want to keep it. It's cheaper to join than to keep paying an LCS and inflated submission fee. Quote: A group CCF deal would be awesome & way more affordable for everyone. It's unlikely they would be able to provide the volume necessary for a large across the board submission discount. You're talking hundreds of coins a week or thousands of coins a month to get across the board discounts like that. Bobby would then have to charge extra to make it worth his time with the massive amount of work that it would be for him which would wipe the discount away.
