Look at all the fun I have missed. Very entertaining questions. Looks like joe's history round has expanded. Good stuff. Now lets get this coin.

Had Charlie Chaplin achieved knighthood by the time this coin was minted?

Does the capital city of the nation which issued this coin lie north of the Alps? (This would eliminate Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and all nations which lie south of them).
I think we'd better start working on location!

Does the nation which issued it lie predominantly west of 15 degrees E longitude (meaning places like Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, Andorra, Spain, Portugal)?

I think we are roughly between 1969 (Woodstock) and 1975 (Chaplain), in southeast Europe, and a coin not made predominantly of gold or silver (so copper and its alloys, aluminum, iron, zinc are all in the running).
At least that means Yugoslavia is still Yugoslavia, and we don't need to rule in or out the half dozen countries it became a couple of decades later.
