Yes this coin has silver in it. IN fact, I think it has at least a half gram of silver.

When this coin was made, had the BBC yet become a corporation (as opposed to its earlier life as a company)?

Not only had the BBC not become a corporation, but the word BREXIT did not yet exist when this coin was issued.

Ok interesting. Sounds like this coin is dated before 1926. Speaking of Brexit, I have one more date question for you. When this coin was made, had Boris Johnson's father's father's father been assassinated yet?

Indeed, this coin bears a date before the year of that event, which was just three months before my dad's birth..
16/20.

I will be away from the Forum again until evening, by which time I suspect I may even see a winning guess.

The silver content of this coin is not 40%.
17/20.

And unfortunately, my coin is not the 1926 20 cents.

It depends on which part of the coin you choose to read.

Looks like I am 17 minutes too late as the only possibilities I see are the 1920 and 1921 50 Cent pieces, so congratulations to @jc or @gc--whichever one of you is correct.
