Ignore the comment about the coin being a coward, it is not a hint.

the capital city of the country of issue of this coin is not closer to the Pacific Ocean than it is to the Indian Ocean.

Fellow contestants...
I think this leaves the following places in play:
- In Africa, the string of countries Egypt-Chad-Nigeria and everything east and south of them (based on being outside the 5500 mile question)
- In Asia all of the Middle East (including Cyprus, but excluding Turkey as Ankara is inside 5500 miles), all of central Asia, and South Asia across at least to Thailand and Indonesia.

Australia, Oceania and East Asia are obviously out.

Countries were being created and absorbed in this region during the time period we've identified:Pakistan was created in 1947, South Arabia existed temporarily in the early 1960s, Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika, Malawi and Zimbabwe were formed from former British colonies in the early 1960s, etc. SO it can make sense to continue to work in parallel on narrowing the date range and on the geography.

Is this a coin issued by an African nation?

How did you know that's where I picked to base my question?

I didn't! I just checked how far across Europe that covered, and after finding it excluded all of Europe, I expanded to Asia and Africa to see how far it went.

joecoin did say a few posts back that we should forget about his cowardly comment.
Being gamemaster almost requires a course in politically correct speaking ... you have to make sure you don't say anything that could be misunderstood
Like last round when I made a comment about "royal pain in the neck" just trying to leave a clue that the coin had a monarch on it.

I'm going to say no, but I don't think they had much choice and I know they didn't played any sort of major role in the war.

It was impossible for this country to be either neutral or a belligerent in WW2.

I'm telling you, cowardly is NOT a cule (nor a clue). Forget about that.

Which I think means it was not yet a country in WWII, and it was in Asia. So this is a very small number of countries, like Pakistan, Indonesia ...

Israel is another country which meets the criteria of over 5500 miles, closer to the Indian Ocean than the Pacific, and impossible to have participated in WWII. There may be some other countries in that part of Asia that also fit. But Israel, Indonesia and Pakistan were all created in the late 1940s and meet the other criteria we've established thus far..

Hmm I'm thinking that cowardly not being a clue is actually the clue.
