I said 'recap please' Auto-correct... It was not a question, rather, it was a request.

Well, you can request that I give you an ASE, but I don't think chances of that happening are very good.

from Hong Kong?

Poor Hong Kong, going through a rough patch right now.

From Wikipedia:

When the [British] union flag was raised over Possession Point on 26 January 1841, the population of Hong Kong island was about 7,450, mostly Tanka fishermen and Hakka charcoal burners living in a number of coastal villages.

In the 1850s large numbers of Chinese would emigrate from China to Hong Kong due to the Taiping Rebellion. Other events such as floods, typhoons and famine in mainland China would also play a role in establishing Hong Kong as a place to escape the mayhem.

According to the census of 1865, Hong Kong had a population of 125,504, of which some 2,000 were Americans and Europeans.

In 1914 despite an exodus of 60,000 Chinese fearing an attack on the colony during World War I, Hong Kong's population continued to increase from 530,000 in 1916 to 725,000 in 1925 and 1.6 million by 1941.

But no, my coin is not from Hong Kong.

Oh you cheeky little devil!

Asking me to shut up is like asking Lot's wife not to turn back and look.

Ok so dated between 1925 and 1965. When this coin was minted, was former president George H. W. Bush married?

No, it was not minted when GHWB was married. (Got my Bushes mixed up,sorry).

Good question.

I think Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria would have legends primarily in English and be in N. Hemisphere.

In Asia, Ceylon, Philippines and maybe India would have had English legends in addition to Hong Kong, and there would have been a Malaysia precursor that was still a British colony.

Oceania?

It's probably from the Indian subcontinent or an Island but Africa needs to be ruled out.

Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka all have coins with some English in that time frame.

The comment about it never being European makes me think it was never colonized though

Anyone know how Ethiopia decided their calendar? Seems odd they are 7 years behind ours.

Liberia was never European. But did not issue coins in this date range best I can tell.

Edit: none of those three African countries issued coins in the date range, so Africa is likely out.

This coin has nothing to do with Africa and is not an African coin.
