I forgot about the possible Switzerland and Austria options.
Switzerland silver coins are francs.
Austria used many of the German state denominations plus they used florins.

I knew the unification of Germany was in 1871 or 1872, but to my knowledge they started coining in 1873. I automatically assumed Germany here, but as Josh pointed out, Switzerland and Austria can be included.
So does the denomination have a letter G in it?
