Ok, this is not what I expected.  For various reasons this coin is not from: Abkhazia Kosovo Artsakh North Cyprus South Ossetia Transnistria Can anyone think of a place that's completely in Europe with a population less than 100,000 that had it's own circulation coins between 1976 and 2000.... |

Whoops, did I misunderstand about the phrase "Completely in Europe"; I thought it meant anywhere that would be called Europe, islands included, even if they are far away from the mainland...  |

Another hint, it is not on mainland Europe, or anything to do with the Mediterranean sea...
It is also in Krause and numista as a location...

There is only one region out on this list, not mentioned, and this is the one I have  . It technically is part of another country, and had a small number of coins produced for it. Big hint, 1946, 1993, and 1998... |

Just thought of something... Perhaps the question "Does the English name of the country of origin end in Y?" answer is yes and no... Perhaps this was the hangup... |

Another big hint: Russia issued coins for this region...
Therefore the coin is in Russian, yet belonging to Europe...
