Hi everyone,

While looking at the 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Kennedy half dollars, I noticed that there is a significant difference in price between coins of the same grade and release date. For example, both coins were first day of release and graded PF70. The only difference between the two was the label design.

I've read that label designs important for collectors who are going for a certain theme etc... However, I was not aware that different label designs lead to large price differences.

Other than personal preference, is there a real reason why one label design is favored more than another? Would resale value be effected if one were to purchase the same exact coin but with a label design that was cheaper?

To help put context to this, I've seen examples of the half dollars mentioned above with a black core label design and one with a moon core design. Is the difference a price a gimmick by the sellers? Or is there something that I'm missing?

By the way, can someone kindly point me in the direction of a reputable website that does sell the Apollo 11 50th anniversary edition of the half dollar? I've been searching around, but don't really know which websites are "better" than others.

Thank you very much and sorry for the many questions and the long post.

That site is a total rip-off. These are TV telemarketers just full of BS.

Labels can and do matter for a variety of reasons. First strike etc does bring more, whether the coin is from a set or not can matter, the designs etc. Some of them are rare/rarer, others just look better and are more desirable and so on.

And yes if you get a cheaper option it will resell cheaper as well as that's the price the market has deemed that version to have

IMHO,what it really boils down to is whether you collect coins or labels.
