This is a recent acquisition and I would like opinions on grade. Yes - it is raw and debating on best place to send to get slabbed as well...

At-50. I would send it to ANACS. They don't require you to join anything or to go through a dealer.

I have to agree with everything OneDollar said, AU-50 and ANACS.

This coin is kicking my butt on getting good pictures... It does have mint luster but to dang shiny for a non washed out picture with what I have to work with... I just cant get lighting right to show it... Here is a couple more close up pictures...

Can't argue there, AU details / cleaned. Still quite collectible as such.

I'm going to come down very different... /1/ It's a details grade because of the rim problems at K12 on the obverse. /2/ It's a weak strike /3/ It's low unc... I'd be at MS61 w/o the details grade so UNC Details (damaged) On the reverse, the blue circle shows where the strike was so weak it didn't even fill in the orbs. The red marks are the very highest points. I've never seen a coin below AU55 that still has the fins on the C. The four marked points on the shield are the first to show wear on the obverse (although if you look really carefully, you can sometimes see luster on the shield outline itself (the round blobs at the top that have a heraldic name). I agree it's got terrible (i.e. no) lustre but I don't think that takes it down as low as AU50.

with Burton ^ I don't think there is wear, more than likely it's all strike related. The cleaning is pretty obvious in the last set of photos, so MS61/62 details is what I'd expect a TPG to grade this one at, though I wouldn't be surprised with a straight AU grade either. TPGs can be very inconsistent on this series IMO.

It would be a good investment to get this one graded, even better if this grade as MS.

The coin actually has good luster.... I can't get a good detail picture showing luster. It is not dark at all quite the opposite actually... I had to reduce the lighting even indirect lighting which in turn made it look dark... It is a very weak strike as BStrauss3 stated. These coins are notorious for bad strikes and under grading due to that issue... This one actually has some pretty strong doubling in the United States of America when viewed through a 20x loop... I will send it in one day and see what they come back with but I grade it at around MS62/63 with a very annoying rim ding at around the 12-1 o clock on the obverse.
I am open to suggestions on lighting for a shiny coin picture... not sum'in I do regularly...
