Why is the 2017 shield cent the only one to have a P mint mark? Is there something special about that year?
It's been making my OCD twitch

And here to is one more place where it can not be decided what to call them.

The coin was intentionally released without fanfare to gauge how long it would take before the public questioned the Mint about the authenticity of the novel 2017-P pennies.

The US Mint announced that the 2017 Philadelphia minted Lincoln Shield cent would be minted with a "P". It's reall not a special issue , but is the only ultra-modern Cent that will bare a "P" mint mark from Philadelphia. This coin could become a collector item in a few years. Keeping a few uncirculated rolls could be profitable in the future; not to mention opening a couple of rolls to look for Errors!

I save all of mine and have two containers for culls/circs and higher grade ones. I may one day regret it.
