Here is a different 1888/8 IHC I can't find in CPG or Snow's book, or the F.IND.ERS (tm) Report. All the ANAC's holder says is 1888 Repunched date. Last "8".

Thanks Jim

Aw, shucks...for a sec there I hoped you had a discovery coin!
I think this is Snow-6. Just a hunch, but those three areas you point out seem to match my guide. Date position matches too.
Nice coin...XF45, or better?

Hi Kurt,

Sigh, I guess I will have to break down and buy the attribution package from Snow. I keep thinking I can find what I need from the 3 I mentioned above. Thanks for the reply! It say AU55 on the older slab type.

Kurt,
Does it say anything interesting about it? I am surprised that it isn't in the CPG or the F.ind.ers as it seems it would be relatively easy to spot, even on worn coins sue to the upper loop of the last eight.

Thanks

Jim

That's a nice coin! I suspected it was closer to MS.
Snow writes "this is a fairly dramatic repunched date".
A nicely visible RPD, and the guide puts the value at 2X-3X premium of non-variety, or $120-180 by Rick Snow's price guide.

About right, I had to beat out 10 others and go to $122 to get it. From the
photo you couldn't tell the variety and ANACS just said 1888 repunched date.

But I am happy to get it. I will have to make a mini-collection of 1888 .

Thanks, I appreciate the info!

That sounds like a good price--and you have some nice 1888 varieties
