If I were to hazard a guess I would say a bad planchet the designs in the effected areas seem to have have less detail in the damaged areas maybe a bad copper plating

The indents and rim bruise on the back look like straight damage to me. On the front, I see some road rash, especially around Abe's shoulder and IGWT. The uneven field near the date is odd looking, but considering all the other damage to this coin, my working assumption would be that this area is damaged as well.

This looks like it's been struck through on the E and C. The bottom edge is sheared off without exposing the zinc.

With all that damage, to say that one tiny part of it might be a struck through is a reach. Just as likely as something stuck to the vice jaws flattened that spot.
