Pity the motto wasn't on the high relief coins.

?Thoughts from anybody else?

Agreed. Should have been on them all

There are other ways to balance the lettering at the top, e.g. the sun could be bigger or higher relief, or put the denomination down there.

This particular motto shouldn't be on any coins. Besides, between this, "E Pluribus Unum", "Liberty", "United States of America", and the often spelled-out denomination, there are way too many words. Mottos have become the NASCAR patches of numismatics.

You are entitled to your opinion but given that NASCAR was founded in the 1940s and Mottos had been around LONG before that seems like an inaccurate comparison.

The motto had been on coins long before the Ultra high relief and leaving it off was a change not the norm

My comparison was about the visuals of too many things that someone decided to put there, not all of them directly related to the item itself.

It was an earlier change from the norm to put it on coins in the first place.
