I found 5 of these (gold plated) Westward Journey Nickels in my g-pa's old collection and the only information I can find on the gold ones are on ebay claiming they are 24k gold plated? Nothing on any other websites I've searched about the gold ones. Any info on them would be appreciated.

These were plated post-mint. Most likely a third party company plated normal nickels and resold them. The US Mint did not make these. I doubt there'd be much value to these.

Dont remember where I read it, but according to an article these pieces have less than a buck of gold. Praise capitalism!

Surprise, surprise...

While they hold little to no value above face, perhaps the sentimental value of them having been your grandfather's makes them worth holding on to.

If from Littleton very possibly copper or brass and not Gold.
