Denver?
I thought this was just another Philly where I couldn't find any Die Markers but was going to say it was WDDO-003.
Then I looked at the MINT MARK. DDO or just something else (feeder finger, etc...)?

Wexler has two of these listed WDDR-001, 003, but they are stronger I feel. So this maybe a new one

But yours is a Denver. So none listed. I'm check something else though. I wonder it is is a die clash issue?

@coop,

Yes,... but then I looked at the MINT MARK... DENVER.
All of Wexler's are Philly.

EDIT: Ok... thanks... maybe a clash.

I through one of these out maybe like 6 months ago thinking it was just "BIG GOUGES"...

I believe these North Carolina DDOs are actually die clashes, not real doubled dies. I have seen many of them, both mints, all have 3 lines right behind the ear. I think it's way too coincidental that such a strong spread in the exact same spot occurred this often. Not to mention this doubling is only known on the NC quarters, if it was a real DDO don't you think we would see similar ones on other dates or designs?

I made a post a while ago about this, I can't find it right now.

Just as I thought, it is part of a clash:
2001-D-DDO?-State-Quarter-North-Carolina
2001-D-DDO?-State-Quarter-North-Carolina
2001-D-DDO?-State-Quarter-North-Carolina
2001-D-DDO?-State-Quarter-North-Carolina
It looks like a clash from a wheel on that area.

Thanks everyone.

Now I don't feel so bad about throwing out that one 6 months ago for all the wrong reasons.

Chances are it will come back around again. I was not aware of them yet. I'm still learning more as you guys are finding the DDOs.
