to Community, you have chosen one of the top forums to join. Your coin is normal with a slight bit of Machine Doubling MD. Keep the search going and keep asking questions.

Actually, it has both. Machine Doubling and Master Die Doubling. Only worth face value though.

What is master die doubling: The master hub creates two master dies. The one of the master dies that year had hub doubling on the master die. Note the progression above on the chart. Thus all the working hubs struck with the master die passed on the master die doubling to half of the dies created that year on all three mints. This was not discovered till later one. So about 50% of the cents struck that year have the master die doubling on them, making these coin normal. There are a few master die dies that were doubled dies, but they are minor. Confined to the '2' on the date area.

So for your coin, it would be Machine Doubling (MD) and Master Die Doubling (MDD). That's how you would correctly classify it. There's two different and separate types of doubling on your coin.
Errers and Varietys.

But neither hub doubling in the case of a doubled die. The hub that struck your coin had master die doubling that was pass down the chain of command, but not hub doubling that would create a doubled die. The 1972 DDO-007 is an example where this did happen: This one is a MDD and also hub doubled. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...2PDDO009.htmNote of the description on this link: What is actually doubled: Quote: Description: Strong spread as an extra bar above the 2 of the date.
