So are all the rest of his buyers chumps? Or did he use to sell good stuff? I doubt he had they many fake sales just to pump up his Feedback.

Quote: Feedback at 99% and over 5,000. Or am I looking at the wrong seller? Yes, 99 percent is bad. If I see someone with 99.8 I get hesitant.

Possible he sold a bunch of other legit items to get feedback up, then started to sell this garbage on the back of the good feedback. Or, hijacked an ebay user.

You touched on the very points I am addressing, Daves Errors. Since I have called them twice in recent years and have drawn the same conclusion. Profit. The phone number seems irrelevant only as a legal term for their protection. Yet do they not realize the harm it is doing their business? Simply reading a few of the posts of those who steer clear of ebay, I have to wonder about those outside of the community. So from a business stand point one would think they'd address it in some manner. Again, I chalk it up to greed and not logic. Still, I'm furious over this person. I have come to accept a few now and again, regrettably, yet such a large repeating volume from one source is killing our hobby. I can not simply stand idly by and watch it happen. Facing a sad reality the only solution seems to be educating people on the hazards such as this. Afterall, these scrupulous individuals only exist because people buy their knock-off crap. Digging into this further, looking at every listing one by one, my conclusion is that 60% of them are most likely fake. Repeating slab numbers, not stock photos. The remainder doctored to sell. The negative feedback report confirmed as much with one buyer having four crossed over to PCGS. Surprisingly genuine, one in EF and two at MS63- far below the claimed MS68 from PCS. Done venting.

Does ebay guarantee that what they sell is authentic and properly graded? If not, the money they can potentially make combined with the lack of a guarantee is a bad combination as they pretty much have an incentive to allow fraud. GunBroker, which was started when ebay stopped allowing the legal sale of firearms, has such a guarantee. If a firearm or accessory is improperly described or the condition is misstated and the seller and buyer can't work it out, GunBroker has the item sent to them for evaluation. They then evaluate the item and tell the disputing parties about their findings. If the seller is found to be at fault, which is most of the time if it gets to that point, then the seller is told to refund the money. If he refuses, GunBroker refunds the money to the buyer and the seller is gone. They have pretty sophisticated ways to track sellers in order to make sure that they can't sign up again using a different user id. Given their process and financial stake in the game, the amount of outright fraud is very very low. To top it off, their fees are actually significantly lower than ebay's and yet they're still making money. BTW, not to get off track, but for those not familiar with online firearms sales, all firearms are shipped directly to licensed firearms dealers so all buyers have to go through the same background check that one would have to if purchasing in a local gun store. My opinion is that ebay is opening the door to competition if someone's willing to make the financial investment. They could call it CoinBroker.

Quote: CoinBroker. I like that idea but sellers can always claim no fault if the coin is slabbed at an over-grade.

I only buy from select sellers on ebay and have not been had. Will monitor my purchases from a new seller. KK

As seen on ebay tonight. Lots of wear but is it from a tumbler or honest wear. Looks bogus to me - what say you?
