Not a multi-struck. Looks like MD aka Machine Doubling or tripling in this case. John1

thank you for the comments. Errers and Varietys you take some time and go read coop threads on Machine Doubling. it will help you learn. I have all kinds of detailed pictures of Machine Doubling. I know exactly what it looks like.i also know what causes it as well. the picture will show all of that. later on here I will put up a page for every body. to see what true Machine Doubling is and what it looks like. from that it will also make it easy to know what causes that effect to happen. that way we will all be on the same page. I have to move to another location. I can not stay in this new house. do to health reasons. so this will be a while. but this imformation will be coming to the forum later this year or early next spring. some one else is working on this stuff as well. so they maybe will be bringing it here before me. if so I will just add to there information. you all have a great one

Regardless what causes some of these minor doublings that need to be viewed at 20-40X magnification, any mechanical process has a tolerance and allowance from deviation from the original design. Any doubling that has to be blown up more than 10X is looking for roses when all that's there is weeds.

Are you saying that your posts are all 1:1? Maybe my eyes are bad.

okiecoiner I should explain. this is at 1 to 1. there is no mag. all I did was crop a piece of the photo. it is still at 1 to 1 . what I have done is opened. my camera wide open. it will now take a 42 mega pixel image. if I crop my photo every thing is in perfect focus. so there is no mag. it is 1 to 1. later if the members want I can show every body how to take and image at 1 to 1. they will be able take as small crop as they want. to look at a perfect image. its simple but a person will have to understand how to build a couple of cheap components. once you have that its very easy. later if you want to know okiecoiner I will show you. have a great one

What I'm saying is that the magnification is not 1:1. If I held up a nickel to your photo and they were the same size, then that's 1:1, or no magnification. Your smallest blowups are more than 10:1 and the largest is maybe 50:1. Regardless, it's a minor error, at best and not a variety.

its still just 1 to 1 okiecoiner. crop is just that a crop. I can not right now mount a microscope objective. I will put on a 20X. the image I will share here will be a true 20X image. see a lot of people use those electronic microscopes. that state 60x to 200 x power but in reality it is only 15 x to 50x. see a 50 x you would be looking at the end of a very small needle. that is what true mag is all about. that nickle you can hold it in your hand. beable to see that the error with your own eyes. I crop it to show to everyone. that might have trouble seeing. as lots of us are getting older. I myself cannot see much of anything with out my glasses. okiecoiner I believe you like the older coins . I perferr the modern coins anything from 1965 to now. those modern coins can be in very good shape. I like to see all the detail. if I take a good photo I am able to do that. hope this help you understand why I do this.

Rocky ... . Your photography is great and makes all deviations in the strike readily apparent... good job! You are correct in your remark about me liking older coins. I collect early Vicky large cent varieties, but just commented on your post when I read it. We all have our own collecting preferences and hope that you continue to enjoy yours. You do thorough research .. keep up the good work.
