I found this in some large cents that I bought. The date looks like 1848 but I am not sure. The image and lettering on both sides is a mirror image of what it should be. All images and lettering is indented not raised. It also is a rotated die of about 200 degrees. What would this type of error actually be called. Should I send it in to be authenticated and graded?

Poor quality contemporary counterfeit, a copper blank squeezed between to genuine coins to make a fake to pass in commerce.

That's a very poor contemporary counterfeit. I agree with everyone above, nevertheless since it's contemporary, it's still intriguing.
