So I stumbled on a bunch of ancients playing dead objects in a museum. Marvelous collection I must say.

Wonderful! I wonder if someone just donated their private Ptolemy coinage collection to this museum?

I was thinking the same, but I read that most of the museum collection (including these coins) originates back to Polish-led archaeological expeditions between 1910 and 1914 and later on.

That is indeed a nice display. It's satisfying to see a museum display with coins that have some honest wear and real character.

Some weeks back my avatar and I spent a bit of time with this fellow at the St. Louis Art Museum...lousy pic from an flip phone almost as ancient as the coins:
