Thoughts on this? Other ideas? How do I find out for sure? I'm a newbie to this so any help would be great! I believe there are only 10 known to be found so far so unlikely but I can't really find any other info on it. It's a brown with reddish undertones.

Look, I'm going to be honest with you on this subject.

In the year of issue, some coins turned up that were toned from brand new uncirculated rolls some coin dealers got the grading companies to accept the "experimental rinse" explanation and grade and slab them.

There is no way to tell one from the other once they have circulated because shortly after handling they get toned and the more handling the worse it gets on any sac dollar.

My complete opinion on this subject is that it was a total marketing gimmick and that there's no way to tell an experimental rinse from any other toned sac dollar and unless you got in out of a BU roll in the year of issue and submitted it immediately for grading no grading company is going to attribute it like that again because with time environmental factors and handling will tone it the same.

I agree. I feel it is an attempt to get people to have their coins graded. Over 130 1969-S were submitted with Machine Doubling on them an not a doubled die. So they were all given a regular coin grade as they are not doubled dies. Best to learn for sure, before you submit a coin. I've seen graded coins that are not a doubled die, that are graded as a doubled die. So buy the coin, not the plastic. Who wants to pay full variety price for a normal mis-attributed slab, that is worth face value. Buy the coin, not the plastic. If images are too small and they won't give you what you need to see, pass. Buy the coin, not the plastic. Note sure? Pass. Find a buyer that will supply images that make you feel comfortable with the purchase.
