@jenh5309, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please confirm that you are talking about the excessive rim on this coin? If so, then we typically attribute this damage to the coin having spent time in a dryer. If you use the search feature in the upper left hand corner of your screen with the keywords Dryer Coin, you will find hundreds of threads with examples of this phenomenon. If you are actually seeing something different with the coin in hand, then yes please tell us what to be looking at. Thx.

Not seeing any errors. Looks like a perfectly normal coin.

Thank you for the replies I was referring to the edge yes and I did try to crop it apparently it did not work! I was wonder if that was a clipped edge I am new to this by default! I was left an entire estate from my hoarding ancestors and I have about 3-4000 coins to go through and I have become obsessed some errors I'm having a hard time finding a good enough reference to understand! If I ever finish with the coins I have an entire shed, garage and basement of vintage duck decoys and Pyrex and China to go through #129318;#127995;#8205;#9792;#65039;This seemed like the best web forum I have reviewed Over the last three weeks I thought I would get some nice and helpful to me in my learning process answers ty

I see what your talking about, but hard to say for sure because of how small the picture's are. Try cropping it or getting a closer picture of the coin.

@jen, looks like you have a fun, but herculean task ahead of you. The two most common ways that we see oversized rims is either with Dryer Coins or spooning. Maybe post a close-up of the edge? If it is smooth then my money is on the dryer as the cause of this damage.
