Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 74707 Posts	Posted 08/04/2019 10:36 pm SilverCents, Lincoln Memorial Cents were not plated back then, so that would be impossible. They were mostly pure Copper. Lincoln Memorial Cents weren't Copper plated until 1982. I am pretty sure this is a Lamination error. Errers and Varietys. Report this Post to the Staff

SilverCents Pillar of the Community United States 3281 Posts	Posted 08/04/2019 10:56 pm Oh for goodness sake, before I mentioned that it could be a plating issue I searched up the composition of the 1963 cent and it said 95% copper and 5% zinc. Guess I thought the 5% zinc was the plating. Well, all I can do is learn. Report this Post to the Staff

They are also silver in color because...zinc. The only cents that are not an alloy are the 1943 and 1983-present coins. 1982 saw many as well, but not all. @SilverCents Research metal alloys a bit.
