Hello everyone!

The area of interest is the reverse UNITED STATES. There are "lines" going across of top T's, E and S. I wanna say it's Machine Doubling, except the devices are the same size! As always thank you for checking out my thread and giving me your advice and feedback!

Cheers

No one knows what those lines are or why they're there?

It looks to me like a result of die wear.
Give it a couple more hours and I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable folks will show their faces.

When you look at all the devices tops and bottoms, you can see an alteration by the dies, plus the split plating near the tops of the devices and the rim area. Nothing collectable here. It is part of Machine Doubling and a strong strike. This happens often. Even the edges of the Memorial can be affected. If the coin was not plated and was a copper planchet, this would not be seen on that area next to the rim. But because of the plating, it get split, the zinc gets exposed and it is all down hill for these coins. Just a matter of time in the future when they will become a copper colored Hershey's kiss wrapper when the zinc is all gone. Very spendable.
