I don't get too hung up on these things as I have seen a ton cents that show abrasion that can mimic a doubled column. I found this 1993 D LMC that may very well be a product of abrasion as you can see polishing in the corners. But, this one looks different as it is raised and rounded and follows the column perfectly. Maybe my old eyes are playing tricks on me. Thought I would post this for views on what I am seeing. BTW, I found no matches if it is a doubled column. And, I have no idea why the last pic did not orientate correctly!

Certainly interesting. I'm not sure it's a doubled die though. Maybe some polishing, abrasion or grease affect?

Could be a DDR, doesn't match any of the known ones though.

I don't see anything that would immediately debunk this one. If I found this coin, I'd hold on to it.

Keep in mind the devices of the bays are on the same level as the fields. So it is the outside of the die. Any polishing/isolated polishing affects these devices directly. So if there was a clash on that area, and they were trying to remove it, then it would alter that field area called the bay. That is what you are seeing. When we see images with a microscope, we forget how magnified it is. So we forget how even the slightest change, we see it on the images.

Thanks Tanman, it going in a 2x2. The only reason I posted it was because it just had that different look to it.

My opinion is it's a product of an over polished die issue.
