I'm not quite sure what to think of this. This quarter has a strange cut at around 7 o'clock on the coin, but it's still in its mint cello, so it must have left the mint that way. Any thoughts on this? These are the only pictures I have of it.
Whatever it is, I just think it's really interesting because it's still in its mint cello, and the response to coins like this is usually "that coin didn't leave the mint like that". Well not in this case!
If memory serves correctly, the mint will send coins to other facilities for them to be packaged in sets. I believe the coin may have been damaged at a packaging facility after it left the mint.
