I use The Standard Catalog of World Coins by Chester L. Krause and Clifford Mishler. Popularly known as "The Phone Book" or just "Krause" Everything from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. The values listed areoutdated by the time the book comes out, but it is a good starting point and one heck of a reference. I go to mine at least once a week.

I might mention the Krause catalogs are in 100 year series so you will need to buy a seperate book for each century! I am assuming you will want the 1900 to present? You can find used ones or older NEW ones on ebay or Amazon.com. That would be your best bet!

I have to mention this every time when someone asks for values of various coins - there cannot possibly be a site that mentions EVERY single coin. Think about it, since 1600s to modern times and for every centuary, Krause publications has a telephone directory sized catalogue, which means 4 heavy catalogues for you to read if you are interested, although it depends on what field you are interested in.

If there is such a site that could handle 4 massive telephone directory listings, most likely it would be abused and wouldn't exist much longer.

If you still insist on a website, perhaps this is the only one with modern coinage: http://(131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed /

One also wants to take into consideration all the guide books are just GUIDES and most of the time they are out of date when they are printed but they will give you an idea about general prices. Buy wisely and enjoy the hobby!

Krause usually has a tendency to be horribly outdated and possibly terribly wrong at certain numisatic areas. Otherwise, it is an excellent reference materials.

And oh boy, how did I forget this. You can check by using ebay's past auction sessions to tell you at what price the coins have been sold at.

Is there a particular field that you are into so that I might be able to give you a much more accurate value? I can possibly help if it's to do with Russian and most Asian coins.

I have all of the books from 1600-early 1990's, although my copies are rather old. While the prices may be incorrect, they are excellent references. Many coins aren't all that volatile in price, so I would imagine that prices quoted in the newest editions are reasonably close for all but the "hot" issues. Checking recent auction results would probably be a better guide, at least for those which have sold recently.

I wish they would publish a 1501-1600 edition, and then go on to even earlier ones.
