1944s DDO-002 stage A (?)MDS, MS Jefferson nickel
VV LINK- http://www.varietyvista.com/04a%20J...4SDDO002.htm .

Description: Light extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, star, and date.

Variety vista only has images for this one in a stage B which has die cracks in the dome, between columns 3&4, and between the EL of MONTICELLO, but mine has none on any of those locations. I believe mine to only be a Mid Die State example at best because of flow lines and not any where close to "full steps".
My image didn't capture it well but there is notching on the upper serifs of UST.
Not really adept at these nickels so any insight, information or comments are very helpful.
Thanks for looking.

Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I don't think that's it, I'm not seeing it.

The lower serifs of all of the letters should be thicker or have notching. The bottom of IN should have thickness visible even in the full coin pic, and I don't see it.

I believe there is a doubled master die for the 1944 nickels, that might be what you're seeing.

Thanks Tanman. I'll try to get some better images of TRUST because there is notching on the tops that don't show in the images I took already.
Any chance you have a link to images of the Master die doubling to compare to?

Unfortunately none of the major die variety sites have images of the doubled master die, although VarietyVista has it in their master listings. Looks at the links to PCGS I put in your other topic, you can see all the 1944 nickels that are pictured over there have the doubling on TRUST and the date.

Thanks again Tanman.
This info has been very helpful. Once I get some time I'll update if this one is anything, keeping the Master die doubling in mind.
