My short answer to you question: In my opinion the pre-1972 doubled die coins are much more valuable because you can actually see the separation of the doubled features on the major varieties of the 1955, 1969, 1972 cents, 1935 nickel and 1934 quarter with the naked eye. (There are others, too!) The stuff nowadays is mostly so minor it is not worth fooling around with. When you have to use a 5 or 10x magnifier, or a microscope, to see the doubling it kinda takes the fun out of it. Others will have different opinions and I respect others collecting what appeals to them. Report this Post to the Staff
