I have two 1970-D 25c DDRs I have to attribute so I'm trying to cross-reference the known DDRs. It's a nightmare.

Just going of what is pictured doubleddie.com, varietyvista.com, and the CPG:
WDDR-001 is NOT DDR-001
WDDR-003 is DDR-001
WDDR-001 and WDDR-002 look like the same die?
FS-101 looks more like DDR-002 than DDR-001 but then FS-101 would be FS-102 so .

Help, I'm going crazy.

DDR-002:

The DDR-001 looks like Machine Doubling. Compare the width of the devices of the DDO-001 and DDO-002? Also note the WDDR-001 and 002 the leaf above the 'U'? Note the affect on that leaf on Wexler's DDO, but not on your coin the DDO-001. MD. The Wexler WDDO-003, looks like a machine doubled, doubled die. (again note the leaf is also affected) So the DDO-002 does look like a doubled die. Note the 10:00 area of the 'Q'? I see the same thing I see on the '9' of the 1972 cents. Note the distortion on that area? The DDO-001 has it a bit, but not like the DDO-002. (enlarged for sure)

Yeah a lot of them also have Machine Doubling, so it makes it even more difficult at times. All of the photos here are from the sites I listed or the books, they are all doubled dies but the MD makes it hard to see at times.

Do you see what I'm seeing on the 'Q' at 10:00. That shows it is a doubled die when you see that mark pushing in on that location. (my image host is not working right now)(_8^(|)= Dooh!

I see what you're saying, it makes a point where there should be a smooth, round device.

I think these cross-references make the most sense, correct me if I'm wrong:

Die #1: FS-101 WDDO-001
Die #2: FS-102 DDO-002 WDDO-002
Die #3: DDO-001 WDDO-003

The doubling @ 10 o'clock on the Q is part of the design on rdv-006 and rdv-007 so all 1970 business strike coins , with the exception of the one proof reverse die that was used as a business strike (rdv-008) , have this doubling.
The lack of this doubling on the Q is one of the pickup points for 1970-D rdv-008

This is out of my comfort zone for right now. But wish you best of luck on attributions

Cheers
