Hey everyone, opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I have stumbled across a weird one I think. I havent been able to find any other 1829s with a reverse
Cud such as this. I checked the Holmes sales and even busted out the old Newman book. Google nor
ebay showed anything similar.
What is baffling me the most is while searching through John Wright's Cent Book trying to identify this
Cud is that under 1829 N1 he states on page 167 under Striking Variations that
"A mail-bid offering by Tom Warfield in 1956 listed an N1 'with rim break over TAT.' Nobody I know of has seen one or heard another rumor of such a coin. The listing likely referred to a 30-10 (or 22-9 or 17-17.)"
Imo I think that 1956 n1 was really an N2 with
Cud, which is what I think this is. Wright makes no mention of N2 with a
Cud on reverse
Is this not a rim break over TAT on the reverse? Is this an unlisted/unconfirmed die state? From the pictures (not mine btw) this appears to be a
Cud and not
PMD.
I just cant believe if I'm right that this hasnt been found before. Id love to be schooled and told I'm making a mtn out of molehill. Sorry for the long winded post, but this one really has me stumped.
Thank you for looking and for your expert opinions.
