If a triskeles is not a real thing, just a three legged wheel device made to suggest some thought in the mind of the observer, (so it is not like a plow design based on real item in the world you could come across) then this can't be what the reference suggests, a monoskeles or (single leg) as that suggests nothing to me. Like the triskeles reminds me of the three hares motif which suggests an infinite loop. So maybe this originally was supposed to be something that is now a reference lost to history? Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 08/20/2019 05:03 am The only suggestion that "monoskelis" need make is to define the shape, a single radiating whorl, just as triskeles describes a triple radiating whorl (see below). Some authors call this "monoskelis" gizmo a 'tamgha' or monogram. Given the affinity of Lydia to Persia, the notion of a tamgha makes some sense. One Greek dictionary defines μονοσκελης (note η rather than ι at the end) as someone standing on one leg "in the custom of the Brahmans".
