It has, I believe a shallow N.That is not mentioned on the NGC verification.

Does anyone know if such a coin exists or if this is a fake.

If it is real is there any value to this cent?

I am sorry, I just noticed I posted this in the wrong place..

Should I repost it in the right place or would it be easier and less messy to let a mod do it?

Sorry, I am kinda hoping this coin is has a good value.

Center of a Coin shows more significant circulation wear for many types. The Indian cent is one of them, particularly in the 70's and 80's.

I looked at Snow's book and see no reference to a shallow "N".
But most of his interest was on obverse varieties.

First welcome to CCF @tfg. Second, best practice is to click on the link in the lower right hand part of your post and let the mods know about your goof. Don't stress about it though--I'll make the request this time for you.

I don't see much unusual on this coin, maybe a little bit of Struck Through Grease?

Cheers,

All coins of this date have the Shallow N. This is not a grease effect. The gradual changeover to the Bold N did not start until 1870 and took 3 years to complete, when the old reverse dies were finally retired - only to be reused again for the short regular issue of 1877.

Thank you Coinfrog! I learned something today. I am unfortunately not very knowledgeable on Classic coins, so please excuse my ignorance.
