Kind of a minor DDO pulled from another Whitman album, and while I think it is a later die stage of WDDO-025 I'm not really sure, the retained crud on the coin made it kind of interesting. A coin to ponder.

1962 Lincoln Memorial cent DDO with crud seemingly struck on

It's that one I think. Great find! Probably in a later die stage, since the doubling seems to match perfectly for WDDO-025.

Do you think acetone will remove the crud?

looks like WDDO-025

Only other coin remotely close to resembling it is WDDO-044...but on WDDO-044 the first "T" in TRUST does not look like yours.

Still a very nice looking coin

Good find, but agree that crud almost looks baked on.

The crud is/was on the coin since the strike. I've seen this on OBW roll coinage. It happened at the mint. It doesn't happen often, but I've seen this before. Removing it would probably show a different color on the coins original color. I would like before and after images. It would be something educational.
