I own a 50. This looks a bit stronger. Although PCGS tends to be a little loose on this type, especially C and D mint.

I get it mox, personally there are too many hits and rub marks to make AU IMO. However, I don't have the grading experience you do, nor the experience grade this type.

I have a hard time grading gold because of the reflections in the pictures. It's hard to see the surface details.
Maybe I just need more practice.

AU-53. Coin was cleaned but they probably gave it a pass.

The wear on coin looks AU53, but not seeing any luster AU50.

Lack of toning and dull color/luster is a usual sign of an older cleaning on a coin this old.

All the auction prices I've seen for this issue in AU50 holders run about $1,000

Looks like an XF45 to me. $705 sounds fair if it straight-graded by PCGS as a 45. As noted above this coin appears to have been cleaned and that hurts the eye appeal so it should be a low-end 45 price wise IMO.
