1974 D LMC - What's Under The Steps?

I almost tossed this one into the return pile when I caught a glimpse of something under the center of the steps.

It's definitely raised metal and not a scratch or a stain.

As you can see in the more magnified pictures the steps appear to dip a little in combination with the edges of the anomaly, but I'm not seeing any evidence of impact damage.

In fact, you can see the outline of the steps, faintly, above the blip.

Just not sure what would cause the bottom edge of the steps to depress slightly while leaving the outline of the steps above them and add flattened metal.

Any ideas?

Looks like the early stages of a Pre-Interior Die Break depression starting. Definitely an error and not PSD.
