Got some change back from morning coffee. Four pennies all nice new and shiny 2019s but this one had some scuffs on it and didn't think much just scratched up. But when I got home and zoomed in on it. It made me wonder what the heck is all this and what could cause this one to look like

Probably used to be on the ground, in a parking lot. PSD. Now the zinc rot process is starting, because the zinc core get exposed from the damage.

Yeah I thought some regular old damage at first too. But with the other new ones in great condition. It got wondering and when I looked close at it was pretty strange. I havent been studying closely to these new coins much but yeah I guess that zinc being crap metal just deteriorates easy. I appreciate it.

Does that mean the value on the these will go up in mint state condition?

How sad is that. The future of our Zincoln coins, not even a year old yet and eating itself alive. If you want future examples of modern Lincoln cents people better start hoarding them and vacuum sealing them. A role of 2019 BU Lincoln cents in the year 2119 would be worth a fortune.
