Looking hard (maybe too hard) at the side-by-side, the portrait on the left of the OP's coin seems to be looking straight ahead, whereas the comaprative photo from BobL seems to be looking slightly to his left (our right). Also the crown on the left figure and the beanie-copter on the right appear slightly thicker (higher) in the OP's coin. It might be wear or angle, making these look like differences when they are not, but I think it is a little different.

Looking at the last photo, the vestments look exceedingly sharp compared to the wear on the faces. But maybe just a strike that was a little weaker in center to start with?

I will guess fake. Not that I've got a lot of experience, and I'm pretty sure I got fooled myself recently.

And I agree with spence that there is no evidence it was an auction lot. Looks more like a dealer or collector label to me.

As for me, I suspect they are from the same die. However, of course, a die match with a coin from a documented sale isn't proof of authenticity. As we all know, reputable auction houses are sometimes fooled by good struck fakes. And, indeed, if this one is fake, whether struck or cast, it's a good one - the dangerous kind.

Bob;

Well I joined NGC for $25, then to send the coin off the standard way I am in $74. Then insurance and shipping $9. Then if I am lucky it is real and half the price I give to the owner who consigned it, and you know I start all coins at $1 no matter NGC capsule or whatever. So to break even considering I did the grading out of my end if real it has to sell for probably $250 with ebay and PayPal fees. This is all just very silly of me now but I have made worst mistakes in life. If fake I'll just make my wife a necklace out of it and tell myself it was just a very nice gift for the wife.

@lks, I am about a week ahead of you on this process for an ebay purchase. My first ever submission.

In hindsight I'm feeling the same way right now. Even if it's fake and I am lucky enough to return it and get a refund, I'll have sunk a bit of change for this education.

OK very silly question:

NGC just said in an e-mail they are finished grading my coin. And it is being sent back to me. Does this below mean they agree it is real? (Hopefully a very silly question.) Thanks to anyone who has used this service below in advance.

Congrats on the authentication! As well as the strong grade.

Mine did not go so well.
I got "not suitable for certification." Which left me unable to return the coin.

Sorry about that. I don't know if I'll ever do that again as with the cost (having sold a lot of slabbed non gold coins from NGC I got from other estates) it does not add much to the price of an obviously real Bronze in my opinion. But if I ever get a gold piece again I kind of have to do it to get a proper return for the investment. Plus as I said, with a lifetime guarantee I give, the buyer would have just done it anyway as they would have known I'd refund them if NGC did not accept the coin. Kind of the reason I never seek out gold.
