I know there's an 88 WAM, but 89? Or it's possibly not. Thoughts?

Looks like 89 reverse to me, albeit a little thinner, probably due to over polishing of the die. Wait for pros to chime in

Looks like the normal reverse of 89.

There's been a lot of discussion in the past about 1989 LMC's with RDV-006, but so far as I'm aware there hasn't been one authenticated as such.

None of the coin databases list one and neither do any of the TPG's.

Your coin is pretty clearly an RDV-005. I always think of the 005 as the skinny initials because they always look so thin and almost sickly.

The 006 are the robust initials (with the horizontal piece) because the letters look more fully struck and well rounded and the 007 are the flat initials because, well, they look flat in comparison to the rounded 006 variety.

I'm sure others will weigh in on the 1989 issue but check out the Reverse Design Variety page on Variety Vista as they show each variety clearly and also the years each was used.

Normal reverse for 1989 with die polishing. The 1988 RDV-006 should not be referred to as a WAM,because that is normal for that year. The FG is what you need to look at.

Okay, okay, okay. People are getting confused here.

RDV-006 "Flared G" is normal for 1989 cents. RDV-005 "Straight G" is unknown on 1989 cents.

Your coin is a RDV-006 that is heavily polished. Note that elements near the rim on both sides of the coin are extremely thin. Also the two horizontal lines of the F are noticeably different sizes just like RDV-006. On RDV-005, those lines would be nearly the same size.

Thank you all! (Especially Tanman2001 for cleaning up the confusion) I was getting excited for a moment. No more comments are needed!

PCGS was wrong in putting that on the slab in the first place.
