I found this dime mixed in with the penny category of a coin collection. Is it an error or just a plain old coin?

I am not well diverse in coins but I am learning! Thanks for all the responses to my previous posts, they are very helpful!

This coloring is caused by some unknown environmental exposure. May have been buried at one point.

It's an unflattering toning. Toning occurs when something reacts with the coins surface, usually some type of oxidation, that changes the exterior of the coin.

You can safely spend this coin.
