I came across these pieces in a collection of stamps and coins I received from my deceased grandfather. In the same little box were what looks to me like some old lead balls/bullets.
The bottom right medal in your picture is possibly quite scarce. I've collected exhibiton medals for 20 years and never seen this one before. It may be that they are common in Australia but my hunch says probably not. The Sunday Schools medal above it is also rare, but not particularly valuable.
Thanks for the replies! While I am interested in values of things I collect, it is not my primary interest. I plan on keeping and passing along my grandfathers stuff to my kids, but sorting through and figuring out what is special to the collection world versus simply for family interest is always a blast, no matter the area of collecting!
Please feel free to give me any info or ask any specific questions. Thanks!
Typically, the cardboard 2x2 or crown flips, with the coin stapled inside (flatten the staples too) typically works. Under no circumstances should you attempt to "clean" any coins.
