Hi all,

I am working through my grandfather's stamp and coin collection. There are many coins, mostly what appears to be Canada and Great Britain. I am completely new to coins and looking online is giving me some info for sure but I really have no idea what's what. I don't think I have anything of real value here outside of sentimentality but I dig the cool factor immensely! If I post some here I would be pleased to hear any comments and info. I have no plans on selling anything and this is for my family interest, but if there is anything of note I would appreciate knowing. I will post more as I find them!

Whoa! Slow down! It is difficult responding to too many pictures at once!
1st 2 pictures: Shilling, threepence and farthing are pretty ordinary and the silver ones pretty much silver value only in that condition. Canadian 10 cent the same as holed. The Sixpence is the third type for 1887 and quite nice - probably £5-£10 worth. The brass coin is a gaming token known as a Cumberland Jack - common and low value, but interesting.
2nd 2 pictures: 1799 Halfpenny, commons coins and worth little in that condition
3rd 2 pictures: Daniel Eccleston halfpenny token, Lancaster 1794, edge should read "Lancaster, Liverpool & Manchester" Cartwheel form. D57 - worth £5 to £10 in that condition.
4th 2 pictures: Lancaster John of Gaunt halfpenny, sadly holed and so of little value.
5th 2 pictures: George III Shilling or sixpence (Need size to be sure of which) 1816, worn and not scarce but silver. Maybe £5 in that condition.
6th 2 pictures: Edward VII Sovereign or Half-Sovereign, 22 Carat gold. (Again, need size.) Worth the gold value at least - about £135 as a half or £270 as a full sovereign.
7th 2 pictures: 3 pennies and one Halfpenny - typical worn examples of very common coins. Little value in the UK but maybe more interesting in the US.

Thanks PaddyB! Awesome info! Sorry for spamming right now but as I am looking at all this I get a bit worked up. Haha Even though of little value, the idea someone was walking around with some of these in their pocket over 200 years ago is fantastic to me!

Here are a couple of half crowns from 1916 I found too.
Thoughts?

You really have some rather nice coins there. There are even a few better grades mixed in.

I'd consider getting some 2x2 holders and 20 pocket pages to make a nice album or two to enjoy.

Yes - 1916 halfcrowns, not scarce and not brilliant condition, but useful to a new collector of dates. Silver value of the 2 is about £10 to £12 and probably not worth much more than that to a collector, but you might get lucky.
